DESCRIPTION:NCGA 2023 Session and People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) \nCorye Dunn\, Director of Public Policy\, Disability Rights NC \nPlease join us for information and discussion with Disability Rights NC policy staff about this year’s legislative session and its impact on people with IDD. The members of the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA) make decisions about people with IDD that impact their daily lives. The NCGA decides how many Innovation Waiver slots are funded and the hourly rate earned by Direct Service Providers. The details to expand Medicaid in North Carolina are still being decided and can have major implications for people with IDD. It is important for people with IDD and their family members to understand how their elected officials are responsible for the supports and services available. \nCorye Dunn joined DRNC in 2011 as the agency’s director of public policy. Dunn\, who was born and raised in Durham\, N.C.\, graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and NC Central University School of Law. Prior to coming to work at DRNC\, Dunn practiced law in a small firm. She also served as a direct care provider to adults and children with developmental disabilities and worked in nonprofits seeking to expand access to education and increase investment in low-wealth communities. \nRegistration closes on Monday\, 8/14. \nRSVP Here: www.flipcause.com
