DESCRIPTION:PLEASE READ! IMPORTANT CAMP HORIZON ANNOUNCMENT \n8/6/2021 \n Camp Horizon is a 4-day/3-night traditional overnight camp experience at YMCA Camp Harrison in Boomer\, NC. Participating campers with Down syndrome\, ages 10-17\, enjoy traditional camp activities\, including horseback riding\, arts & crafts\, boating\, fishing\, swimming and more. Campers are assigned a 1:1 volunteer counselor for the duration of their time at camp.  Camp Horizon builds self-confidence and independence within the context of a traditional sleep-away camp experience. \nAugust 18- 21\, 2021    $325 per camper \nScholarships are available for eligible families.

Disagree with the school about your student’s placement or amount of special education services? Not sure what to do about it? Sometimes advocating for your student at an IEP meeting may not be enough to resolve disagreements with the school system. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) provides several ways to resolve disputes that may arise. This workshop will provide an overview of facilitated IEP meetings\, state complaints\, mediation\, and due process.
