Social Programs & Community Events
The Down Syndrome Association of Greater Charlotte (DSAGC) offers a variety of social programs, community events, and inclusive activities for individuals with Down syndrome and their families throughout the year. We also partner with local organizations to create meaningful opportunities for people with Down syndrome of all ages to build friendships, connect with their community, and participate in activities alongside their peers.
Our social events are designed to encourage friendship, connection, inclusion, and community participation. Throughout the year, DSAGC hosts and participates in gatherings that may include regular meet-up groups, spring gatherings, summer picnics, holiday celebrations, and other family-friendly social events.
Inclusive Sports & Community Experiences
Dream On 3 partners with DSAGC to provide individuals with Down syndrome and their families with opportunities to participate in one-of-a-kind experiences with area sports teams. These inclusive events create opportunities for participants to experience local sports while building confidence, connections, and a greater sense of belonging.
Through these partnerships, individuals with Down syndrome can participate in experiences connected to football, soccer, baseball, and other local sports, while families enjoy opportunities to connect with one another and the broader Charlotte community.
Social Events for Teens & Adults
Next Step Clubhouse and Best Buddies of North Carolina partner with DSAGC to provide social events and seasonal dances for individuals with Down syndrome in 6th grade and up.
These events give participants opportunities to meet new people, develop friendships, practice social skills, and stay connected throughout the year. Seasonal celebrations include Carolinas Homecoming in August and the Snowflake Swing Dance in January, along with additional social activities throughout the year.
At DSAGC, we believe everyone should have opportunities to make friends, build meaningful relationships, participate in their community, and belong. Our social programs and community partnerships help create those opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome across the Greater Charlotte area.
