The First Year: Ways to Help Your Baby Develop Motor Skills

AUDIENCE: Parents of babies with Down syndrome ages 18 months and younger
DESCRIPTION: This class is being led by an Occupational Therapist who also is the mom to a toddler with Down Syndrome. In this class you will learn simple and fun ways to engage your baby in play to develop fine motor, gross motor, and feeding skills. Suggestions will also be provided to help choose the best baby items to buy and what to avoid to maximize your child’s development. Please bring your baby, a blanket for floor play, and lots of questions. Kristin Jones is a pediatric Occupational Therapist with 20 years of experience in early intervention, feeding, sensory integration, and school based services. She currently is working as the lead Occupational Therapist at the Community School of Davidson. Kristin is also the mom to 2 teenage daughters and a 2 year old daughter with Down Syndrome.
LOCATION: GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte
REGISTRATION INFORMATION: SPACE is limited to 20 families given space limitations at the workshop location. Three people per family may attend. However, we ask that siblings stay home as the focus of this workshop is on children with Ds and their parents.
